Our delicious dinner

Disney Day 2 December 13, 2010

Filed under: Brad and Me Plus 3 — Michelle Ferguson @ 9:43 pm
Before our vacation, I had ordered from Disney Florist an “Ears to You Christmas” package for each of my children.  The package included Mickey Ears (monogrammed with their names), autograph book and pen for the “celebrities” we would encounter in the parks, a small plush stuffed Mickey Mouse, and way too many sweet treats.  The delivery was a surprise for the children and was supposed to be in our room by 8pm Monday night.  When we arrived back from our memorable night out, our delivery had not been made.  So my first priority this morning was to find out where it was.
While Brad and the kids waited at the south bus depot, I went inside the lobby to check on this.  I was met by a very nice lady who, after checking in the back, informed me that our delivery had been made the night before at 9pm, but nobody was on duty to deliver to our room that late.  I asked if I could just pull out the autograph books so we could be sure to have them to take to Epcot with us for the day.  After untying and untaping several items to pull out the books (x 3 packages), I was covered in red glitter that would follow (haunt) us for the rest of the week!
Autograph books in hand, we boarded our bus for Epcot.  Did I mention we had a long wait for an Epcot bus?  Well, we did!  I think we finally got to the park around 10:45.  Our first ride was Spaceship Earth, which is inside the big golf ball.  Luke and I sat together, and before I had a chance to set our language button to English, Chinese had been selected and we were off.  So the whole ride was like Chinese to me!  Ha!  Luke and I did laugh when the screen in front of us brought up pictures of our heads on cartoon bodies to describe what our life might be like in the future!!  We did get to ride this a couple of more times, so I was sure to press “English.”  It was a much better ride for me that way!
We ate lunch in Morocco because it was where we were when we were ready to eat, and we did not want to waste a lot of time looking for a place on our approved list of quick service places.  At age 10, Lindsay was considered an adult, so she could not order from the kids menu.  After dining on couscous, vegetables, and baklava, we headed out to the other countries featured at Epcot.  We stopped in at The American Adventure to see a huge gingerbread house.  Our favorite attraction in the countries was the Viking boat voyage in Norway.  We rode this several times throughout the week.
We enjoyed the clamobile ride through “The Seas with Nemo & Friends”  and the boat voyage through green houses where scientists are growing vegetables without dirt, and a fish farm at Living with the Land.  There, we saw a 9 pound lemon and winter melons that looked like huge cucumbers.
Our top favorites at Epcot were Soarin (a hang gliding adventure over California-while “flying” over a lemon orchard, we actually smelled the scent of lemons.  It was very, very cool!)  and Test Track.  Luke could ride Test Track, and it is the longest and fastest attraction in Disney history.  The five of us loaded into a GM test car and raced it on a track at 64 mph!  It was super fun!  Fast pass recommended for both of these rides because of their popularity!
Brad, Lindsay, and Logan blasted into space with Mission:  SPACE in a simulator ride.  They chose the most intense journey.  Lindsay and Logan talked me into riding, however, I chose the less intense journey.  Lots of warnings about this ride are given before stepping into the simulator.  As soon as the two doors were closed around Lindsay, Logan, and me in our simulator and I saw the vomit bags in front of my seat, I started getting very anxious.  My heart pounded, and I told Lindsay to bang on the door and get me out of there!  She banged, but no noise could be heard from inside that tight capsule, so all I could do was hang on!  That was the second time in my life where I thought I was going to die.  By the grace of God, I survived our blast off and mission around the moon!  I will never do that ride again!
Of course, no trip to Epcot would be complete without a stop at the Character Spot!  We stood in line to get autographs and pictures with Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto, and Goofy!  Goofy was quite a playful character!
We had dinner reservations for the Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall at 8pm.  When we walked in, the kids got Belle’s autograph and had their picture made with her.  We were shown to our table and told to enjoy theappetizer buffet.  My favorite on the buffet was the smoked goat cheese and asparagus!  Yum!  As we ate our delicious dinner, Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, and Ariel made their way to our table for autographs and pictures!  After dinner, the princesses led all the children around the banquet hall in a parade!  It was my favorite dinner all week!
At 9:30 we hung out to watch the fireworks show over the water, called IllumiNations:  Reflections of Earth.  It was absolutely spectacular!  It was a combination of fireworks, colors, and lights set to a musical score.  A globe traveled across the water and lit up all the nations of the world, then opened up to release a dove, symbolizing peace on earth.  It was fabulous!
The fireworks show ended our day at Epcot and we headed “home” on the bus with three tired children!  I think we were getting the hang of things by this time!
