Trip to Bangkok: MRT and BTS
Bangkok is notoriously famous for its traffic jam. So, you might want to avoid taking a cab or renting a car. MRT and BTS are better options for you; they are affordable and can take you to many places in Bangkok.
MRT stands for Mass Rapid Transit. Also known as Bangkok Metro, this is Bangkok’s underground metro system with 18 stations connecting 20 km distance between Bang Sue in the north and Hua Lamphong in the south.
BTS stands for Bangkok Transit System. Also known as Bangkok Skytrain, this is Bangkok’s two-line elevated train network covering major commercial areas. BTS provides free shuttle buses to transport passengers to and from nearby stations, though it’s rarely used by tourists. BTS has two lines, which are Sukhumvit Line and Silom Line. MRT and BTS are interchanged in three stations: Mo Chit –> Chatuchat Park, Sukhumvit –> Asok, and Silom –> Sala Daeng.
This is a map of MRT and BTS. The blue line is MRT. The bold green line is BTS Sukhumvit Line, and the one with bold dark-green line is Silom Line.
Enjoy Bangkok!
