In addition, many people are seeing the sense of ripping all their existing DVDs / Blu-Rays to a hard drive for access via a Media Player. This is a more streamlined solution than fiddling around with boxes and a drive tray every day. Most people already have large libraries of digital audio. This can also be accessed using a Media Player, so you can have one small box in your lounge delivering all your media content. Look out for the Media Players with a front LCD screen for accessing audio without having the TV turned on. So, as people acquire ever more digital video content they are increasingly wanting to play it back via one simple box, on HD televisions around the home. The answer to this need is the Media Player. Some Media Players are also capable of playing back content directly from the internet. Free services like Youtube, Flikr, and Picassa are often available. And by using a service like Netflix or Boxee, a vast variety of both paid and free content becomes available. At the moment this kind of functionality is rare but we expect it to become more common and very important in future. The future of Media Players will lie in paid on-demand content. Various other features are also implemented in Media Players. Some have internet radio, some have inbuilt Bittorrent clients, some have web browsers. Again, there will be a widening of the features available as we move towards the inevitable future HD-on-demand world. There are some TVs, Blu-Ray players, games consoles, and DVD players with rudimentary Media Players built in. The quality of the Media Player is any of these devices is significantly inferior to that of a stand-alone machine. When you consider that Media Players are relatively cheap and getting cheaper, we do not see a future for multi purpose devices of this kind. Both DVD and physical media will eventually (soon?) give way completely to Media Players, and replacing a TV is too expensive for it to be considered an alternative. For these reasons we consider the only device that offer and alternative to a Media Player to be a Home Theatre PC (HTPC) or HD capable laptop with HDMI output. Yang rawan hilang data adalah seri AP 300, ini yang saya punya dan AP 360-T (semua bisa HDD internal). Cuman belum saya pasang HDD internal. Pilihan saya menggunakan seri ini karena harganya, lebih murah dari WDTV Live tapi sudah ada slot internal HDD 3,5' sata. Tapi menurut di forum, untuk pencegahan, HDD-nya harus dipartisi menjadi beberapa partisi. Partisi pertama sebaiknya kecil saja, karena partsisi ini yang rawan kecelakan terhapusnya data. Apakah ini bug di software/firmware? Apakah hardware limitation? Apakah masalah lisensi? Sampai saat ini tidak ada penjelasan resmi dari pihak Realtek.... DTS-HD MA can either be downmixed to an analogue format if supported by the player, or bitsreamed via HDMI 1.3* to a compatible receiver. A hardware bug prevents any Realtek based player from passing full DTS-HD MA, making the Sigma based players your only choice for DTS-HD MA passthrough. *TOSLINK or Coaxial S/PDIF cannot carry a DTS-HD MA signal because the S/PDIF standard was finalised long before lossless HD-Audio was envisaged (despite S/PDIF being theoretically able to cope with the bandwidth). Semua produk Media Player dengan chipset 1073DD sudah bisa DTS Downmix, umumnya produk media player keluaran akhir 2009 sudah bisa DTS downmix. Jadi PlayOn pasti bisa DTS Downmix. Produk Realtek sebelumnya (generasi 2008) menggunakan chip 1073DA belum bisa DTS downmix, kasus ini sama dengan chip Sigma (menimpa WDTV versi awal) tidak bisa DTS downmix, sehingga harus ada revisi hardware. Kalau bingung cek saja review di MPC Club .... : Mede8er, ACRyan masuk TOP 5 RealTek ....jika pertimbangannya kualitas dan fitur yang lebih banyak, silakan memilih salah satu dari dua merk itu. Jika masalah harga jadi pertimbangan penting, silakan memilih yang paling murah, karena fitur dasarnya pasti sama saja, toh sama2 Realtek 1073DD. Hanya kembangannya saja yang berbeda, tergantung vendor+developernya. Jangan lupa support forumnya dicek juga, jika ada masalah bisa komplain via forum langsung ke developernya. All of the new players this month except the Myka ION and Fantec MM-FHDL are included here. The Ellion Labo 110, Sumvision Cyclone MKV, Prodigi PD-100N, Hisense MP800H, and Brite-View HDPrimo BV-6000P are all Realtek 1073 based. As there are now so many Realtek players the new additions will have to do something different in order to stand out. Of this new bunch, only the Ellion Labo 110 and Hisense manage to do this. The Ellion has a superficially improved user interface and the Hisense is the cheapest Realtek Media Player so far, coming in at £61. The Hisense as a unit is nothing special, the firmware is the basic Realtek (albeit with regular updates) and the build quality has been reported as not being that impressive. The latest v7.06.r2388 firmware release catches up with the Xtreamer is all the key areas (HD-Audio, BD-ISO, DVD support) and when you add the torrent downloading feature that has always been present in the Play!On, it makes this player well worth a look. A forum post this month showed some pictures of what is supposedly the next ACRyan firmware. It looks very nice and shows that ACRyan are planning for a shiny future. Whether this is Realtek SDK3 (so other players will also get it) or not is something we will only find out over the next few months. The Xtreamer fan issue has largely been resolved. Reports are that the newer units are quieter than those from the intial batches, and there are now a couple of relatively inexpensive passive coolers you can fit that let you turn off the fan completely. In resepct to this, as far as we can tell nobody has managed to permanently break an Xtreamer by running it in it's standard configuration with the fan turned off. Interestingly, some Realtek players have fans and some don't. It seems that the Realtek chip can be run without a fan, albeit running relatively warm. The Xtreamer has had a number of incremental firmware releases this month, continuing it's impressive release schedule. Our best player from September, the Brite-View CinemaTube BV-5005HD is starting to lag seriously behind in terms of firmware releases. It is still using Realtek SDK 1 and has poor HD-Audio support compared to the best Realteks. We are dissapointed in this player since the Briteview people are so vocal and promise so much on forums. The other Realteks are very much of a muchness. They all have similar interfaces on top of near identical hardware with uncertain firmware update prospects. The problem (if it is a problem) is that the basic Realtek firmware is technically very capable. Hence every Realtek player is a very capable Media Player with great performance and format support. Misalnya begini (setting audio via optik) : 1. Untuk menonton film dengan Audio Multichanel (AC3/DTS) dengan pilihan setting SPDIF Raw jalan dengan mulus. 2. Kemudian mau nyetel MP3 yang cuman stereo atau film divx yg stereo juga, suaranya gak keluar. 3. Untuk keluar suaranya, setting harus diubah ke SPDIF LPCM .... Jadi cape juga ngubah2 setting ini karena harus manual, tidak bisa mengikuti audionya yang tersedua di file. Yang lain gimana? PlayOn? Mede8er?
