Princess Storybook Dining

"Help yourself to the koldtbord" (cold table) is the catch phrase in Akershus Royal Banquet Hall where guests are encouraged to make multiple trips to the table. The seafood and cold meat dishes provide an appetizing beginning for this authentic Norwegian dining experience. Gravlaks, a cured salmon served with mustard sauce; chilled shrimp; Norwegian-style herring and an assortment of salads and cheese make this first course a meal in itself.
Next come the smarvarmt, or hot dishes. A sampling of these delights would include lamb and cabbage, smoked pork with honey mustard sauce and venison in cream.
In Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, the Disney Princesses -- Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Pocahontas, Mulan, Cinderella, Ariel, Alice and Mary Poppins -- are special guests at Princess Storybook Dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner, served family-style.

Pros: family style breakfast, meeting the princesses
Cons: dinner choices

I prefer this location to Cinderella's Castle. It is a better value, only 1 table servie on the dining plan, service has been much better here in my experience as well as the food, and it is an easier reservation to get. Be aware that Cinderella is NOT at this location so if your child MUST see her, you need to dine at the Castle or at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian (dinner). 5 princesses come around to your table for pictures, autographs & hugs! My dad leaves his sunglasses on since he gets teary when his grandkids meet the princesses... (it is like meeting the Beatles). The princesses may include Mary Poppins or Alice for whatever reason, but it is wonderful . Please note that this is Norway so you may want to make sure that you will be happy with the menu before you make reservations. I have only personally had breakfst & lunch there but I speak with many who tell me they were not please with the dinner.

Pros: the princesses
Cons: the new dinner menu

On many occasions we've met Ariel (in her dress), Snow White, Belle (in both her work dress and her ballgown), Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Pocahontas, Jasmine, and Alice. They moved the nice dinner menu to lunch. The current dinner menu isn't very good. It is a pretty location and you do meet 5 princesses, but we prefer Cindy's b'fast in the castle.

Pros: Character interaction
Cons: Mediocre food

Not the best food, but where else can you have breakfast with so many princesses?
