Lear Monorail
Pretty as a picture
And they are. These sleek modes of transportation were patterned after the Learjet, so they come by their cool factor honestly. I fell in love with Monorails from the first time I saw one, and after riding them, I was hooked!
So every time I visit Walt Disney World in Florida, I just have to take as many photographs of Monorails as I can. And here are some of them:
Monorail Lime returns from EPCOT (2007)
This shot was taken from inside the Pilot's Cabin of another Monorail. We were waiting to leave the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) for Disney's Polynesian Resort.
Monorail Purple in EPCOT (2007)
Walt Disney argued that Monorails were the perfect transportation system for inner cities. One reason he gave was that you could landscape around the Pylons that held up the Monorail Beam(s). This feature makes a Monorail system more ergonomic than a Light Rail system.
Underneath a Monorail (2008)
You can see this view if you take a Water Taxi from The Magic Kingdom to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. The boat will pass under the Beams that access The Contemporary Resort.
Monorail Black (2008)
This shot was taken from the balcony of The Contemporary Resort. This Monorail is stationary while it is being loaded.
Monorail Silver (2008)
Monorail Silver is leaving the Contemporary Resort on its way to The Magic Kingdom. Wave to my wife, she is in the bottom of the picture. Patiently waiting for me to stop photographing Monorails.
Monorail Pink (2008)
Monorail Pink is seen here from the Pilot's Cabin of another Monorail on The Magic Kingdom Loop. You can no longer ride in the front of a Monorail due to the crash between Monorails Pink and Purple on July 5th, 2009. 21-year-old Pilot Austin Wuennenberg died in the incident. Both colors have since been retired and stricter safety protocols have apparently been implemented by Disney.
Monorail Blue (2008)

Monorail Tron (2010)
Some loved it, many hated it. But it ran on The Magic Kingdom Loop regardless. Tron Legacy is now in Theaters, so the Tron Monorail is going, if not already gone from the lines.

WOW! Does a Hostess serve drinks? It would be worth a trip to Japan just to ride this Monorail! Well, I'd probably visit the Park too. From what I understand, this Monorail is part of the Public Transit System, and runs outside the Park. So you have to buy a ticket to ride.
Monorail Hat (2010)
I just had to include a piece of merchandise with this Post. This is a very cool baseball cap-style hat. It is in Spanish and I believe it says: "Please stand clear of the doors".
So I hope you have enjoyed this little look at one of my favorite 'attractions' found only in the Disney parks. And Las Vegas. And throughout the Orient. And...
