Server Security Certificate Not Yet Valid

Opening Gmail: Server Security Certificate Not Yet ValidReport abuse

When I go to www.gmail.com, I get redirected to a message saying that "The server's security certificate is not yet valid."  Underneath that title is the following message:

"You attempted to reach www.google.com, but the server presented a certificate that is not yet valid. No information is available to indicate whether that certificate can be trusted. Google Chrome cannot reliably guarantee that you are communicating with www.google.com and not an attacker. You should ensure that your clock and time zone are set correctly on your computer. If they are not, you should correct any issues and refresh this page. If they are correct, you should not proceed."

When I clicked on "Proceed Anyway" I get sent to Gmail, but the website doesn't load and the little Google icon on the tab flashes back and forth, as if to say that the website isn't working.  I tried accessing Gmail from 2 different internet connections and the result was the same.  Unfortunately, I've been having some web browser issues and the only browser on my comp that works is Google Chrome so I couldn't check it from my computer using another browser.

I also checked my gmail account from a different computer and that worked.

What should I do?

Set your system clock correctly. The current gmail certificate was issued on the 2nd of May, 2008. If you see a different issue time when viewing the certificate, you may have other problems.

You attempted to reach www.google.com, but the server presented an invalid certificate.

When you connect to a secure website, the server hosting that site presents your browser with something called a "certificate" to verify its identity. This certificate contains identity information, such as the address of the website, which is verified by a third party that your computer trusts. By checking that the address in the certificate matches the address of the website, it is possible to verify that you are securely communicating with the website you intended, and not a third party (such as an attacker on your network).

In this case, the server certificate or an intermediate CA certificate presented to your browser is invalid. This may mean that the certificate is malformed, contains invalid fields, or is not supported.

Sorry for being thick, but how do I change the system clock. It's the weirdest thing. On Chrome I can't access Gmail but I can access any other part of Google.co.uk

i have a similar issue with Safari 3.0.4. on my mac G4. checked date and time and they're fine as of this post. also, systems preferences won't allow my master password to be changed. the old password passes muster upon verification but doesn't allow new one. when i enter new one it says my old password is incorrect...goes on and on like this. my hard drive recently took a massive crap and i had to reinstall OSX, so some of the software updates and functionality are still clunky but i've never heard of a computer not allowing you to change password.

any answers out there or possible solutions...i'm really concerned there may be a security breach somewhere.
